Bagamoyo village chairman in trouble

MKWAJUNI Village Chairman in Makurunge Ward, Bagamoyo District, Mr Hamisi Mbonde, is under fire over misconduct and public office misuse. The villagers are pushing for his resignation.

The villagers reached the decision during a recent meeting which was also attended by ward councillor, Mr Kabile Paulo. They claimed that their leader has been misusing money obtained from sales of farm produce, which they said is against their agreement.
Apart from these allegations, the villagers also said that their leader has failed to supervise ongoing development activities including construction of a school which was supposed to be built using villagers’ money.
In addition to this, they said that their chairman has failed to convene village meetings for more than five months. The villagers told their councillor that they reached a decision to hold a meeting in his presence so that they could express their problems and challenges which they were facing.
Most of them claimed that the problems were caused by their chairman who was not cooperative. “He has been supervising the sales of our crops but surprisingly enough some of the money which is supposed to be returned and be spent on various development projects is never remitted.
Instead he has been using it for his own benefits,” said one villager, Chande Abdallah. Another villager, Mwajuma Omary, added that since their chairman was elected about seven years ago, their village has never been able to make any advancement in development projects
